Summary | 0000155: Ghosts sometimes stop appearing on top when clicking to another window
Description | Despite having the option set for ghosts to stay on top of my windows, sometimes they still end up behind them when I click to another window. Whenever this happens, I've noticed that it's every ghost I have open at once, not just one of them. When a ghost (or its tray icon) is clicked, it'll stay on top again, but only that individual ghost. Each ghost must be clicked to get them all back on top again. I haven't noticed any sort of pattern, I'm not sure why this happens or what causes it. I'm on Windows 10, and this seems to happen when I'm browsing around my computer normally, not doing anything particularly intense.

2.5.36 : stay on top problem may fixed |
|
This issue still happens in 2.5.36. I still have no idea why it happens; although I will note that since I started using windows 10, I've noticed that all my windows (not just SSP) will randomly lose focus, oftentimes while I'm in the middle of typing or drawing. I think that's probably a windows issue, and I wonder if it could be related to this... but I'm not really sure. I may try on my windows 7 computer and see if it happens there. As far as I can tell it's completely random, though, so it's impossible to replicate reliably... |

Please try 2.5.37 |

Unfortunately this problem still occurs. I don't have much new info to share, either. I feel like the frequency of this issue may have slightly increased since the changes to the window z-order, but I'm not certain. Right now it's happening 2-3 times within 8 hours It definitely has to be something about when I'm actively using my computer and switching windows a lot, because I usually leave my computer and ghosts open overnight, and when I come back they're still on top. I wish I could tell you more than that, but I haven't found any way to reproduce this yet... |

It seems to still be happening, but I think at least one of my ghosts is staying on top at all times now? I always have multiple ghosts running, and before they would all go behind my windows, but now I think at least one of them is staying on top. I will continue to observe, to be sure I'm seeing this correctly and it wasn't just a coincidence... |
|
The behavior I mentioned last time has happened again. It seems like the ghosts disappearing is happening much less often now, and I also noticed that this time it was a different ghost that stayed on top. It might be related to which one I had last clicked on. |

Spicy new update: I'm guessing this is related to this issue. I was running 4 ghosts, and eventually I noticed that two of them had disappeared behind my windows again, and the two that were still on top were flickering at crazy speeds. Also, from the one on the left changing expressions every time it flickered, my guess is that it was constantly running the event OnSurfaceRestore, or something similar. I could not do anything to interact with the affected ghosts, even right clicking the tray icons did not help because the menu would disappear before it could even finish displaying. I tried loading the yaya.dll file of one of the ghosts into Tama, and that didn't give me any output besides saying the files were loaded. I also had trouble getting around my computer, since SSP kept stealing window focus. Oddly, it did not prevent me from using Discord as normal. But I had trouble getting file explorer open, and I couldn't resize my gif maker, which is why it's framed so awkwardly (and why you can see the settings menu stuck open). I did eventually discover that I could bring the other two unaffected ghosts back to the front by minimizing/unminimizing them via double clicking their tray icons, but they wouldn't respond either. They would just say their dialogue for being unminimized, then stand there without flickering. Their balloons would not close, and they simply showed the loading symbol if I moused over them. No key combos worked, so I was unable to bring up the script log to see if any useful info was there. I did eventually notice that I was able to use some of my other windows normally again, after messing around for a while. And I eventually just ended SSP by force with task manager, since I couldn't find a way to access any other useful information. |
